Healthcare networks that operate under one parent brand but have many local practices face a marketing puzzle most industries don’t: how do you build authority at scale without flattening the local trust each practice has spent years earning? For a multi-brand women’s healthcare network with practices spanning gynecology, obstetrics, maternal-fetal medicine, mental wellness, specialty care, and telemedicine, that puzzle became more urgent after nine separate practice websites were consolidated into a single digital ecosystem.
This case study explores how 9Sail’s integrated approach to SEO, paid search, content, and digital PR helped the network turn that consolidation into a genuine patient-acquisition engine, one that grew engagement, nearly doubled paid conversions, and cut ad spend, all at once.
Case Study Highlights
(January–August 2026 vs. January–August 2025)
- 91% increase in tracked Google Ads conversions — from 21,708 to 41,539 — while total ad spend fell 43%
- 70% improvement in cost per conversion, down from $21.78 to $6.51
- +12.3% website sessions and +17.35% engaged sessions, with engagement growing faster than traffic itself

Client Overview
Our client is a multi-brand women’s healthcare organization offering gynecology, obstetrics, maternal-fetal medicine, mental wellness, specialty care, and telemedicine across a network of practices. The practices share a parent organization, but each has its own patient base, geography, service mix, and level of local name recognition, which makes for an unusually complex marketing environment.
In November 2024, the organization consolidated nine separate practice websites into one primary digital ecosystem. 9Sail was engaged as the network’s integrated digital marketing partner, managing SEO strategy, paid search, content development, digital PR, local visibility, and analytics tracking in close collaboration with the client’s internal team.
The Challenge: One Ecosystem, Many Markets
Bringing nine domains under one roof didn’t hand the network a single, isolated marketing problem to solve. It surfaced a network-wide growth challenge with five distinct fronts:
- One ecosystem, many brands. The consolidated domain offered stronger combined authority, but the practices weren’t interchangeable. A one-size-fits-all strategy risked weakening established local brands while under-supporting newer ones.
- Closely spaced local markets. Broad regional pages couldn’t capture the city- and service-specific searches patients rely on when choosing an OB/GYN.
- Sudden shifts in patient demand. When a competitor stopped accepting a major insurance plan, patients were suddenly searching for an in-network alternative, an opportunity that required a fast response.
- Unclear attribution. Leadership needed visibility into real patient actions (calls, new-patient form submissions, scheduling), not just traffic and rankings.
- A fragmented ads account. Well over 100 campaigns, many dormant or duplicative, were absorbing budget while converting inefficiently, and healthcare ad policies and budget caps added friction to the campaigns that actually worked.
The Approach: A Coordinated, Market-by-Market Strategy
9Sail built an adaptive digital marketing program that coordinates SEO, paid search, content, digital PR, and analytics while treating each practice as its own market. Search data informs content priorities, local conditions shape both SEO and paid media, and analytics reveal what actually produces patient inquiries, not just page views.
A Unified SEO and Content Foundation
9Sail manages the network’s ongoing SEO program, including blog and content creation, on-page optimization, internal linking, local search, and performance monitoring, making the primary domain a credible source of women’s health information while keeping individual practices easy to find.
Every Practice Treated as Its Own Market
Established practices lean on name recognition through strong branded visibility, while less-known practices get deliberate support through non-branded search, service content, local pages, and targeted campaigns. The shared system creates efficiency, but the individual market determines the tactics.
Hyperlocal Visibility at Scale
Scalable, city-specific OB/GYN landing pages give the network precise entry points for high-intent local searches, without resorting to thin, repetitive pages or nearby practices competing against one another.
SEO as a Responsive Business Channel
When a nearby competitor dropped a major insurance plan, 9Sail moved quickly to build a dedicated landing page for patients seeking an in-network alternative, structured around their actual questions and search language, with a direct path to booking an appointment. For this network, SEO isn’t a static publishing calendar; it responds when patient demand shifts.
A Sustainable Content Engine
Existing FAQs, provider videos, and patient reviews are repurposed into new blog content, grounding articles in what patients are actually asking while reducing the content burden on busy clinicians.
Authority Through Digital PR
An ongoing PR program connects journalists with the network’s physicians and midwives, producing 20+ placements across outlets including Prevention, Parents, Parade, EatingWell, The Bump, HealthyWomen, and Yahoo Health, earning relevant links while positioning clinicians as recognized experts.
Paid Search Rebuilt Around Efficiency
9Sail restructured Google Ads into a smaller set of actively managed campaigns with conversion-focused bidding. Branded search anchors efficiency, while inefficient and redundant campaigns were paused and that budget redirected toward proven demand.
Attribution Across the Patient Journey
GA4 and Google Tag Manager tracking captures new-patient form submissions and phone calls, and the organization’s online scheduling platform connects advertising activity all the way to appointment behavior, giving leadership a clear line from visibility to website visit, to engagement, to call or form, to booked appointment.
The Results: Nearly Twice the Conversions on 43% Less Spend
All figures compare January 1–August 31, 2026 with the same period in 2025.
Sitewide engagement improved across every major measure. Sessions grew 12.3% while engaged sessions grew 17.35%, meaning engagement outpaced traffic growth itself. Average engagement time per session rose nearly 22% (37 seconds to 45 seconds), and events per session climbed 20.3%. Because tracking includes calls and new-patient form fills, this growth can be tied directly to patient-intent actions, not just page views.
| Metric | Jan–Aug 2025 | Jan–Aug 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Sessions | 798,573 | 896,837 |
| Engaged Sessions | 418,516 | 491,134 |
| Engagement Rate | 52.41% | 54.76% |
| Avg. Engagement Time / Session | 37 sec. | 45 sec. |
| Events per Session | 5.97 | 7.18 |
| Event Count | 4,769,208 | 6,443,413 |
Paid media delivered nearly twice the conversions on 43% less spend. Impressions were trimmed 41%, and clicks held nearly steady, yet tracked conversions nearly doubled, from 21,708 to 41,539, a 91% increase. Cost per conversion dropped 70%, from $21.78 to $6.51, while total spend fell from $472,820 to $270,300. The account didn’t get better by buying more exposure; it got better at reaching and converting the right audience.
| Metric | Jan–Aug 2025 | Jan–Aug 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Impressions | 1,265,471 | 750,649 |
| Clicks | 108,591 | 103,239 |
| Click-Through Rate | 8.58% | 13.75% |
| Average CPC | $4.35 | $2.62 |
| Tracked Conversions | 21,708 | 41,539 |
| Conversion Rate | 19.99% | 40.24% |
| Cost per Conversion | $21.78 | $6.51 |
| Total Spend | $472,820 | $270,300 |
The top ten campaigns roughly doubled conversion volume (approximately 17,130 to 34,506) while improving blended conversion efficiency by 77% (from $15.09 to $3.43 per conversion), and one established practice’s branded campaign grew from 2,555 to 13,251 conversions at under $2 per conversion.
Authority grew beyond the website. Semrush estimates the network’s share of U.S. organic traffic within its competitive set at 31% in August 2026, up from 22% in August 2025, a roughly 41% relative gain. The digital PR program’s 20+ placements continue adding credible, topically relevant links and mentions.
By August 2026, the brand also held measurable visibility across AI search, with an AI Visibility Score of 33, 490 AI mentions, and 797 cited pages, per Semrush. One measure is directly comparable year over year: the number of keywords where the brand is featured within Google’s AI Overviews grew 54%, from 287 in August 2025 to 443 in August 2026.
Takeaway: The Whole Is Greater Than the Sum of Its Parts
No single tactic accounts for the improvement. The primary website concentrates authority, local pages create community relevance, brand-specific strategies match each practice’s market, analytics tie visibility to patient-intent actions, and paid-media restructuring concentrates budget where it produces the greatest value. The strength of the program lies in how these components reinforce one another.
What’s next:
- Expand local and service-line visibility in markets with demonstrated patient demand
- Continue turning provider expertise and patient insights into useful search content
- Strengthen visibility across traditional search and emerging AI discovery platforms
- Responsibly scale efficient paid campaigns currently limited by budget, while protecting high-intent branded search
- Refine conversion and scheduling attribution to sharpen business-level reporting
When SEO, paid media, content, PR, local search, and analytics stop operating as separate functions and start connecting around the patient journey, the result is a more efficient marketing operation and a stronger foundation for sustainable growth.

Measurement notes: All comparisons cover January 1–August 31, 2026 versus January 1–August 31, 2025 (eight months each). GA4 event counts include all configured website events and are not a count of patient inquiries; calls and new-patient form fills are tracked separately as patient-intent actions. Google Ads figures are tracked conversions and should not be equated one-for-one with confirmed new patients unless reconciled with scheduling and patient-record data. Semrush figures, including AI visibility, are third-party estimates. Platform-mention figures (Gemini, Google AI Mode, ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews) are an August 2026 benchmark rather than a year-over-year comparison, since measurement tools evolved substantially over the period; Google AI Overview appearances are measured consistently across both years and are directly comparable.
